MARCH 21 UPDATE

Dear CICD Members,

The American Chemistry Council (ACC) confirmed today that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has identified the U.S. chemical industry and its workers as Essential Critical Infrastructure, an industry sector critical to public health and safety, economic and national security. DHS recognized the chemical manufacturing sector and its employees as having “a special responsibility to maintain your work schedule.” Click here to view its "Memorandum on Identification of Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers During COVID-19 Response" in its entirety.

As you are likely aware, several states have issued “Shelter-in-Place” orders, including California, Connecticut, New York, and Illinois. All orders reference DHS guidelines and allow companies in the chemical manufacturing sector to remain operational.  ACC has been working diligently with its in-state partners to ensure the chemical sector is exempted from those orders.

In Delaware, CICD has been in regular contact with Governor Carney’s office and continues to impress upon them that our members’ operations are essential to the health and safety of Delawareans. We are working closely with the Governor's staff to ensure that any and all Executive Orders on business closures do not impact the business of chemistry or supply chains in Delaware.

We will keep you updated with any new developments. As always, we are here as a resource for you. Please let us know if you have any questions. You can reach Josh Young at josh_young@americanchemistry.com, Kierstin Turnock at kierstin_turnock@americanchemistry.com, or Rob Whedon at robert_whedon@americanchemistry.com with any questions you may have.

Regards,

CICD Team
